I Just wanted to post some pictures of my new Lent. I got it from TUIC last week. My intention is to keep it by itself in a 72x18x24. for now, and then see on moving it if need be to something bigger with more fish. Right now he has some small fish from a prior setup that i am trying to catch before they become a snack. Previously to this LentI had (3) Chocolate Cichlids & (3) Vieja Bifas, but i decided to go in another direction.

Any tips or comments would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Most pike cichlids like lents come from very high current waters, over 1000 GPH (for wavemakers) easily. You basically have to hold on to something while snorkeling and watching them. It's best to put them in with fish that can handle a high flow tank.

Yes, I was not sure of that. I have two Gyres that push out about 2K each and i will be putting them in as soon as i can scoop the little fish that are leaving. Thanks for that.

very nice Pike! According to Kevin @ TUIC, they were collected from Rio Indira. I could not find any pictures from such a collection point in my searches.

aqua-import has it written on their site that the "super orange variation" comes from the Rio Inirida. They have pics of full grown adults

Thank you for that! I notice now the vertical line are kind of faded like these adults. Nice looking colors. Kevin mentions in the stock list that they will grow to other colors . My research leaves much to be desired for

Yours looks like it's from Rio Negro.
Also, C Chemical Dependence 's pike is a juvenile and lenticulata will have different coloration during that stage of its life.

Aqua imports' red spot lenticulata are also apparently from Rio Inirida.

Thanks for the Rio Negro suggestion. Those are also very nice looking with the colors they display.
I am assuming the color changes coming up will be interesting. i am looking forward to seeing the progression.

Thanks for your input Goggy, much appreciated!

The Crenicichla lenticulata I have collected are from the Rio Inirida in Colombia. In the photos above the particular fish looks a bit washed out. This particular race has a very strong pattern even when small as seen in the video link posted below and they turn a very nice orange/red. That is the actual stock and the fish above was still in that tank when the video was taken. This video was taken just a few hours after they landed in NY from Colombia.
oh.. and most certainly is not a hybrid lol. no hybrids allowed in my facility! lol.
