Nice Lents! I especially like the black edging on the fins. How big are they?

Those look SICK scat, and I dont mean healthwise. Ive also just seen a first and scats gonna get full credit and mad props, PAVERS on the bottom!! What a genius alternative to bare bottom tanks! Easy cleaning no doubt!! Take note of this all of y'all and your bare tanks. Nice fish and thanks for the enlightenment.

Thanks for the kind words.

They are actually ceramic tiles but pavers would work too albeit a little bit thick.

I decided to take the gravel out because even with massive weekly water changes I couldn't keep the nitrates down with all the big nasty fish I have. It seemed like there was more crap in the gravel right after I vaccumed it than before I started!

I didn't like the look of bare bottom tanks and personally feel that unless there is something under the tank preventing the fish from seeing through it has to be stressful on the fish.

The pike tank is my second tank with tiles on the bottom. Here's my first go at it.

My thoughts exactly. Did you actuually grout those tiles?

As a stone pro I can contribute some thoughts here in regards to stone tiles and scats excellent bottom cover. All types of natural stones are available in 1/2" thicknesses and most in 3/8". There are also a wide variety of finishes that might look cool in aquaria. For instance sawn granite can be thermal finished (high heat) and the crystals explode and you end up with a natural, rocky, but perfectly level surface. Etc. etc. if anyone wants stone advice drop me a line.

are the pinks fading? Fish Keaper's has bright pinks. may be just the cameras and lighting.

never seen such nice fake plants. do you know/remember what they are?

Pinks fading? Do you mean on the pikes? They really don't have any pink except for a little in the fins. If you've seen some with pink on their bodies it was probably due to lighting.

The plants were purchased at Michael's Crafts. Nothing special or unique about them.

nice fish man
