I am so happy!!! A new Lfs just opened and I just got back from checking out their fish and they have every fish I can't find! Because I only have 4 fish in my 150 gallon; A Rtc x tsn hybrid 8 inches, A rtc 3inchs, and an albino tiger oscar and a normal tiger I think I need to start filling it or the cats will be to big to try to get anything to put in with them. The store has 2 arowanas, Oscars, All kinds of catfish, Clown Knifes, Flowerhorns, Bichirs and Pacu. They also have this one catfish that im not sure about. It is black and has the tail of a tigrinus with out the wisker things and sort of the head of a tsn. Most of you probably dont care very much but I could not find any of the fish I listed any where. Not online nor at any fish stores. Ill post some pics of the guys im thinking about getting and some pics of the black cat that I dont know. Oh and dont worry I put a divider in so my hybrid wouldnt eat the rtc. I made it half and half until the rtc gets bigger. I cut back on the hybrids food and started giving the rtc massivore pellets quite frequently.

congrats on the new fish store but you know the comments will be coming that you really dont need anymore fish, if anything the hybrid should have the tank to him self much less it separated. in my opinion the first thing you should buy is another tank. trust me what we comment on here is only to help you out not to put you down or whatever you may think, we think of fish first owner second, now you said that you cut the food back on your hybrid to let the red tail catch up, well in my opinion thats not a healthy plan for the fish. but i may be wrong and if am i appreciate any constructive criticism. i hope everything works out for you and your fish and you get some great advice from some of the more knowledgable members.

I didnt cut back to much and Im only going to do it until I think the hybrid cant eat the rtc. Also I already have a 300 gallon waiting for them. And a 800 for after that. I just want to get some fish that they can grow up with at a small size. Because if I try to buy fish to stay with them when they are 2 feet long I would have to spend a lot of money on fish that they wouldnt eat.

well than what you should do is put the red tail and the o's in the 300 and leave the hybrid where he is. and as far as tank mates i have a red bellied pacu growing with my redtail, they really seem to enjoy eachothers company. a tig cat is also a good tank mate and i use to have a albino channel cat. all of them are alot of fun. are you looking for pretty fish or a monster/meat eater?

i dont care what other people say to you about what your doing but i think your fully capable of providing for the fish and know what your doing, im also on the market for some fish to go with my hybrid and rtc besides my oscar

Yeah armyguy just worded it in a way that you may have interpreted that but trust me I have the tanks and the money for future tanks so you dont need to worry. But finding fish is the hard thing. The top fish on my list is a Wels Cat which is also the hardest to find and has some type of laws pertaining to them so i doubt ill ever get it but until then this new fish shop is what I have. The owner is very nice and has helpful advice and asked me if I was looking for anything special because he has a lot of suppliers that he can goto or get a special fish from if I ask him. Btw the black fish I talked about was actually a Juruense Catfish which I can keep with my hybrid and rtc for a while but I might leave him behind in the 800 when I get it. I plan to keep every tank I get up and running even when moving the fish that I had in the lesser tank to the bigger and just putting fish that I couldnt keep with the big cats in the lesser for their whole life.

sounds like a plan, i am currently looking into getting a flathead cat, i know alot of guys would give there left nut for one lol, i am hoping to either catch a small one or get one from a hatchery but i am sure i will need to put him by himself for a while and make sure he is safe and all before he joins the red tail. a tig would be a nice addition or even a nice pacu if you like them.
