Okay.. I am in NEED of a new light for my 100gal Planted tank. My Coralife fixture is really making me angry... the fan keeps making this awful noise and im tired of hitting it, or turning it off midday. SO....
I currently have a Coralife with four 6700K 65watt bulbs. The light is on 10 hours a day.
In the tank...
Fish - 9 Botias, 30 Rasboras, 2 Bristlenose Plecos, and 7 Hatchetfish.
Plants - 2 Red Melon Swords, Vallisneria, Red & Bronze Wendtii (Crypt), and Crypt undulata.
I don't want TOO much light.. my melon sword has started to flatten out a bit more, although shes still producing lots of little plants! I have heard the flattening out can be a sign of too much light? Anyone know if thats the case?
Anyways, the tank is a 5 foot 100gal, so i obviousely need either two lights, or one big one. The space where there is glass on the top measures (2x) 27.5inches. Im looking into two 24" fixtures if possible.
So.. light fixtures/brands that are good, and types of lights and watts/spectrum
I have been on another forum and was told to try T5NOs. which arent as easy to find as T5HO. Would T5HO fixture be too much light for me?
I am not using CO2. Just Flourish Excel a few times a week maybe. Algae hasnt been a big problem, just a little on the leaves, which the plecos either get, or I cut off when the leaf eventually starts to wilt.
Thanks!
