Picked this Oscar up recently.
I think oscars were the first fish i kept that got me hooked on cichlids. I've not had one for years but I often wanted one again.
This guy was labeled up as wild Peru Oscar.
I must admit I'm not sold on its title, looks like a young tiger Oscar to me.
Any way still very happy with him and can't wait to see him develop. I've been well overdue keeping these guys.

Funny how you go back to what got you started. Ive been looking at Oscars for awhile. I keep finding myself drifting back to Oscars, firemouths, and some of the other more commonly available fish.

Honestly most of the wild types don't vary much from a run of the mill tiger. Very nice though.

Nice one, not sure i could have resisted either. I always look at the oscars whenever I visit the lfs, but I have become super picky I guess and none of them ever look that good to me. Very nice body shape, fins, and markings on that one. How big is the little guy?

I've kept dozen of cichlids over the years and I also got hooked with my first Oscar. Really sold me on central / South Americans. Had a big mean red Oscar for years named Elmo lol. About a year ago I tried to keep them again. Had one for 3-4 days from a LFS and it kicked the bucket. Got another one as a replacement from the LFS and raised it for a couple months.... only to find it on the floor one morning. The Oscar gods told me no more Oscars. Good luck! He looks nice!
