Just received a Lyonsi from Rapps. One of the "adolescent males". About 3-4 inches. We'll see how he works out. I got a Green Terror too, and he's definitely an upgrade compared to the 2 juveniles I got from my LFS. Well packaged, excellent fish. Another great review for Jeff Rapps.

I have had 2 Lyonsi. Nice fish but not very tough. Both were killed.

Oooohhhhhh.....not what I want to hear. I have a Synspilum in this tank, and a Jack Dempsey. They are sectioned off right now with a divider.

I have 4 A. lyonsi in a 210 gallon tank along with several P. synspilum, a P. loisellei, and some T. pasionis. The lyonsi are not brutes (most of their aggression is intraspecific), but they hold their own with the others.

My Syn and JD don't like the Lyonsi much :). The Syn is not real adamant about it, but the JD is. And he's QUICK, too. I see what ya'll mean. A lot of chasing tonite. Hope it calms down some after a few days.

A new pecking order has to be worked out, and once that happens things should calm down considerably (unless your syn and JD are intent on being belligerent). Adding new cichlids to an established tank almost always leads to raucous behavior for a few days. Good luck.

I rehomed the JD just now. He was way too fast for the other fish in the tank, a little bit smaller. The Syn is still beligerent today, but he's alot slower. The Syn doesn't want anybody in a third of a 6 foot tank. The JD was swimming from one side of the tank to the other, hitting everybody--especially the new Lyonsi. I can get a new JD at the LFS anytime. A new Lyonsi is harder to find and expensive to ship.
