wanted a few more fish for my tank and decided on festivem's. added 4 and they are about 2 1/2" now. I thought they would stay on the lower part of the tank, but to my surprise they stay mainly in the top half. they will not take food off the bottom, instead they will spend hours looking for food in the floating plants. great looking fish and works well for my biotope as they are normally found with discus in the wild. these fish are wilds and come from the same supplier of my discus.

Watch them carefully as they get older. I raised a small group of wild-caught festivums with my discus and as they got larger, they got aggressive. My festivums would attack all of my adult discus. I never saw any serious damage, just a missing scale or torn fin now and then, but it made the discus very uneasy and nervous. I eventually had to get rid of them all.

I've had this happen with two different species of wild-caught festivum. So many people here say they're peaceful, but my experience has not been the same.

thanks for the heads up. I have read different opinions and it's like keeping discus and angels together. some have problems and some don't. I will be watching them.
