I have a 125g fw tank with an XP3 and a Wet/Dry filter to help with my bioload. My ites have always been good and my ates hover between 30-40. I'd like to incoroporate a few less water changes, so I'm wondering if I can add ceramic or some other biomedia to help with anaerobic bacteria to fend off the ates? I'd like to leave the bioballs in if possible.
My wet/dry looks like this. If I added a couple bags of biomedia, would I place them in the chamber under the intake, below the bioballs, the return, or does it matter?

If this wouldn't work, can someone recommend another solution?

Hmm... maybe I'm not getting responses because I didn't ask the question the right way.

Does anyone add any ceramic, etc... in the submerged portions of their wet/dry filters? If so, does it matter if it is pre or post bio-balls?
