hi guys. i'm from India and here i can handle snakeheads without any legal issues. snakeheads are free to get and found everywhere throughout india. India hosts morethan 10 native SN channa species. other monster fish like gaint gaurami, and lot others available freely here. most of invasive predator in USA are native to India. so no issues in keeping those.
i attached pic of snakehead (Channa Striata) that i caught yesterday at my open yard in house garden when water naturally drained after heavy rain.

let's talk freely about fishes and feel free to ask anything related to monster fishs available in INDIA.

I am not in india but am jealous that you can keep snakeheads. I would really love to have a Channa Bleheri. Your little guy is cute.
Channa Bleheri is refused by fishermen because of it's smaller size. it found throughout my locality. they use nets to catch gaint snakeheads for food. if they catch smaller species of snakeheads like Channa Gaucha and Channa Bleheri, they throw them back into water or feed them to cats. some fish hobbits like me request them some dwrafts and keep them as pets. when i ask dwraft snakehead from fisherman, they give comments like "this is scarp fish", "it will not grow anymore", "they taste bad".
keeping snakehead in aquaria is not common here even though almost all type of Channa species easily available in local water bodies.
Sp, Gaucha and Bleheri all native to India. and Bleheri, Sp found only in India.
