Been on the forum for a little bit now, but have yet to post. There is so much to read and take in here, I haven't had a chance to chime in. I have been keeping freshwater tanks since I was a kid (36 now) and had a saltwater reef setup for a couple years. Right now I have a 55 gallon with a Pacu, a small green terror, small parrot fish and two fiddler crabs. Needless to say it is time for an upgrade. I have been looking at used tanks and found a nice 180 gallon, but am leaning towards a plywood build this winter. Look forward to learning more and contributing at some point.

Welcome from a fellow pacu owner. Love those smiles. You are going to need a bigger tank a lot sooner than you think. Seriously even if you could just get a 70 to put him in while you are building....

A 55 is only 12" front to back, a pacu will break that tank trying to turn around.
