New member need help identifying Jack Dempsey

I'm new hear and have had trouble trying to find out if I have male of female jack dempseys. There about the same size. One has alot of blue around the gills and more pointed dorsal and anal fins were the other is less blue spread out with more rounded fins. They lip locked when I first put the together
But since then have just been swimming (not chasing) around the tank and sizing each other up with the one with less color and rounded fins chasing the other with a little nipping.

Any help?
