Hi everyone
My name is Rob and I live in New Zealand. I am new to fish keeping, I have a 400L tank with 2 Tiger Oscars, 1 Albino Pleco, 1 Bandit Cichlid and a Baby Fire Eel. I had to just remove a pair of Jewel Cichlids because they kept spawning and beating up on eveything including the Oscars that were about 50 times bigger than them. My tank has been running for about 8 months now and its going quite well.
My newest addition is the Fire Eel and he is staying in his cave but eating well and is about 6-8 inches long, so I am happy for him to hide there away from the Oscars for a while untill he is a bit bigger.
I have looked on this site for alot of info and decided to join you all to hopefully learn more about this hobby and keeping happy fish. Maybe one day I can share what I learn with someone else.

Cheers.:headbang2

Welcome! You have come to the right place. I have learned so much from so many here, and I'm sure it won't be long before you can pass some of your knowledge on to others.

welcome mate great place to be

G'day!

I found this site 8months ago, and I have been addicted since! This forum is the best for honest information, no pulled punches, if your screwin' up people will tell you! haha

but like most, some of us need to know the truth!

I look forward to seeing pics of your tank. I love oscars, but have yet to keep one....I also want to get my own eel, but as of now my daughter has the 2 peacock eels of the household...

Welcome!!!

welcome to mfk.. nice to meet you... have fun!!

Hi everyone I am new as well, seems like there is a lot of good advice going on here! Just to let u everyone know, I have a 10 Gallon with 1 Crowntail Betta and 4 Neon Tetras and also I have a 20 Gallon with 2 new jewel Cichlids and some "Dither Fish" to get them to overcome their shyness. Anyone have any other advice on getting them to overcome the shyness? Or will it just take time? However- the dither fish do help them to come out of their hiding spots, but they always dart back and hide.
