Hi I'm new to the Forum. I have two tanks one is a 90 gallon with three baby Oscars. One is a red Oscar, one is an albino red Oscar, and the third is an albino Ruby. My second tank is a 210 gallon Oscar tank with a red tiger and albino red tiger and a lemon Oscar. My red tiger oscar laid eggs late Wednesday night and they were fertilized by the albino red tiger oscar so evidently I have a breeding pair of oscars that I didn't know we're male and female, lol. I took the eggs and put them in makeshift tank to try and hatch him that way. But my main reason for posting today is I redecorated my 210 gallon Oscar tank with some new Driftwood that has been soaking the tannins out for at least two and a half weeks
Kind of going back and forth of whether I want to put some plants in there for them I'm providing a video of my tank so people can give me some feedback on where you would put plants if you were to put plants in the tank thank you.

Welcome to MFK ☺

Plants and Oscars don't normally go well but you could try placing them in back corner's.

Congrats on the Oscar eggs!

You could try tying some anubias to the driftwood. They're pretty hardy although the Oscars might rip into them. If you're not opposed to fake plants you could put a couple of those 3 ft tall bamboo plants off to the sides. I have one in with my Oscar and it looks nice. It's amazing how a little bit of greenery really dresses up a tank.

You can use Anubias plants glue or tie it into the wood, or tie the anubias with a good sucking cup and place on tank wall, or use a plastic crack and tie any plants and place at the back/side tank wall but I suggest anubias or java fern cause it's hardy and don't required any special lighting.

thank you guys for the fast replies. I am aware plants & Oscars generally don't mix well. If I did put plant in there, they would be artificial ones, due to that fact. I was just looking for opinions on were to put them, if I decided to. I like the hard sacpe, I have now. I was just thinking a touch of green might be nice. If I decide to put hem in the corner. What size do you think I should use & roughly how many per corner ?.

Don't give up, there is a member here use Anubias plants successful in his Oscar tank. I myself used to have real plants (Anubias and Java Fern) with a Jag pair without any issues, you just don't put any plants on substrate, they won't go out and tear a part plants in their tank. Also, Your tank much look a lot better if you place your woods vertical in corners.

Why do you thinking placing some drift wood vertically in the corners, would help the appearance of my tank ?.

Vertical wood with anubias in corner would look nice and kinda out of the oscar way. Also, it's just my point of view, it's might suite my taste but not for you though, scapping a tank is a trial and errors for all of us. Anyway, just go with whatever you like.

Thank you for your replies. If I did that with a large enough piece, it would also give my O's a hiding place.
