Hey everyone my name is Luke im in Ontario Canada. i have 2 peacock bass about 3" and a jaguar cichlid about 2" in an 80 gallon right now.

i also have 2 Tiger Oscars about 3" and 4 clown loaches about 3-4" in a 40 gallon

im starting my tank build soon and im wondering if i should aim for 2 large tanks or 1 huge tank? will my peacock bass's , jaguar cichlid live with my oscars and loaches?

Im talking about 300gal x2 if that route.

or 1 tank 600-700 gal.

let me know what your opinions are. thanks everyone.

Welcome. It's awesome to see a spike on ontarians joining! Well i wouldn't keep a jag cichlid with peacock pass. I would buy alot of pbass and put them in a 600 gallon. That would be awesome!

i started with 3 bass. there really hard to get feeding. one is still barely eating. the other is a pig. i dont think i would want more then 1 or 2 in 300 gal as i read they require alot of space.

any opinions on mixing oscars with the bass? the jaguar hasnt bothered the bass.

All of those fish are still young and while they might be tame now, aggression will really show itself as they mature. I would never trust a jag and always be cautious with Os. IMO your best option to keep them all and avoid aggression would be to grow them all together. Suddenly introducing a mature jag and others might not go well, but it can work. My O went from a harmless baby, a killer during puberty and he has really mellowed out as an adult. The juvi stage was quite hard on alot of my fish lol. A bigger tank is always better, but I think 2 300s might suit you better. If there are any aggression issues you will have another suitable large tank to move fish around.

Pbass can be hard to get to feed but if one is doing it, eventually the other one will follow the example. Also try different pellets. They definitely have preferences and using a better pellet can make a huge difference. Once he takes pellets he will eat anything. IMO they are just like Os but more stubborn

my oscars are little demons right now at 3" i have not tried pellets at all yet. i have been using brine shrimp. dried plankton and thawed saltwater shrimp.
The saltwater shrimp is all there most prefered. both peacock bass ate heafty this morning so thats a plus. ideally i would put the jag with the oscars now. or even introduce them all into the temporary 80 gallon. but the 2 tiger oscars are big enough to eat the jaguar cichlid so my only option is to introduce them later or not at all. twice a week they get lettuce carrot and sometimes cucumber. the bass have had zero interest in any the veggs. but the rest seem to take some pretty good interest. i forgot to mention that i have a figure 8 puffer fish. he will be removed when the others start growing in size,

well imo if you keep oscars with jags in a tank that is big enough, there shoulnt be a problem acctualy the only problem i see with the stock is the Pbass eating the Clown loaches, aside from that you should be fine as i've seen this kind of stock work in the past

just from what i have witnessed over the past few weeks. in my opinion nothing will catch the clown loaches. they are faster then the eye and staying completely on the floor im hoping will help there odds if they do endup in the same tank.
