stopped into petsmart of all places today and wouldn't you know it they had a bunch of midas and green texas there.
picked up the midas for 7 bucks and the green texas for 2 bucks
they look awesome in the wall tank
both are about 2 inches long now but soon to be monsters

Nice pickup even though I don't like petsmart. But you like the fish so thats all that matters. You should post some pics of you fish and your tank.

will def post pics asap
my tank is the monster fish wall 180 gallons of cool

As much as Petsmart is panned (not saying it's ideal), from what I've seen their fish look in very good shape, for the most part. They look better then any LFS around here at this point (I live in a pretty large city), and they have a 14 day guarantee and price match. They were the only place that actually had Clown Loaches as well...

Feeding:
Omnivorous; detritrus, vegetable matter, small insects, little fish. I have observe juveniles preying on fry of other cichlids.

So they eat Sh*T literally?

no, detritus refers to the built up layer of dirt/waste/etc at the bottom of the lake/river that they inhabit. a lot of Herichthys species feed in the layer of detritus. they all have different techniques...some of them just dive mouth first into the layer, get a mouth ful and spit out anything that's not food. others will lay their belly flat on the bottom and then start writhing around to stir up the detritus and then eat anything that's edible. a lot of them do this when they have fry...they'll stir up the detritus so the fry can get the food that is stirred up.
