New Midas and Xiloaensis

I bought these two new F1 Midas(thinking male and female) and F1 Xiloaensis about a month ago and they're beast,growing like crazy!They're all from Rapps and the Midas are supposedly the colored Cits but im not sure,im thinking they could be barred but its still early.Pics 1-3 are the Midas(4.5" male),4-6 are the Xilo(3.5"+),and 7-9 are the other Midas(3" female)...

Are you sure that is a xiloaensis? TUIC only has colored xilos though I'm not sure if they peel like other xanthic fish.

I'm not 100% but I guess as sure as anyone can be when there's a middleman ivolved.I would say yes though because I bought them from a very reputable lfs who orders most of there CA/SA cichlids from Jeff Rapps.Also,I've been told that they do peel as well...

I was thinking it could be a sagittae because TUIC does sell the barred variety and even the pics of very small xilo I have seen were already fully colored. Either way they are still awesome fish.

Just to clarify Xiloas do come in barred and colored varieties. No reason not to accept them at face value.

Yes I know that, but my point was Jeff only carries the xanthic ones.

Gotcha...... He used to carry both varieties though. Haven't been checking his list much lately.




(That was a complete lie. I check it everyday! Hahaha! I just don't look at the xiloas since I got a couple of wild pairs.)

Yep, they peel. All the Amphilophus go through the juvii barred stage pretty much. Trimacs and lyonsi aswell to an extent.

Awsome pick ups, I can never get enough of Amphilophus.

Thanks,and yeah,I never realized how addicting they were until I got these little beasts.They have so much character and grow like crazy!
