Ok so ive posted a few things about this tank, but Ive actually started the process now... Before christmas I ordered a 72x24x24 tank with stand, hood and 50x17x16 sump. It should arrive late january/ early february. The tank is an upgrade to the 70 I have at the moment up to now 70 is the biggest tank ive ever had. so quite a big deal for me.
First concern was the something like 1.5 tonnes on my floor. So begins operation floor reinforce...
Ripped up the floor boards and what a mess!!! Should have guessed it wouldnt be too straight forward!!!
Some time and 10 sacks of rubble later the void space is clear. I even found a couple of lumps of rock I can put in the new tank!!! As luck would have it the tank will be resting evenly on 5 joists and, in the top left corner or the pic, a big lump of concrete. Tomorrows job is shoring up the joists with breeze blocks, reinstating the floor and adding a top layer of inch MDF where the tank will sit. Hopefully that should take any weight I could ever want to load on it! Still quite a bit to do before the tank comes. Carpet is coming up and laminate floor going down. And of course the fun bit... Shopping for all the new bits and pieces i need for the tank!!!
