hi all im getting a montoro ray today first time ive ever had a ray been researching alil but i have to understand they are delicate now he is going to be housed in a 55 right now till he grows out there are some tankmates and then i will be getting a 100 g now my question is how do i transfer him to my new tank w/o causing him any shock shock i mix some of my water into his box so he gets used to the temparture like 50/50 my water and his water or just put him in as soon as he gets here ??? he has been in this container for like a day and a half now so that has me alil worried so any suggesstions would be apprieciated thanks

55 gallon and the 100 gallon are pointless.... get a bigger tank... and to answer your question when the new tank is up just net the ray and put it in there....
footprint of at least 8x3x2 (370 gallon) keep in mind motoros can get a disk size of 24" +, motoros are hardy enough that you can dump them, i always put them in a bucket and tank some new tank water and put it in the bucket slowly with the ray in it. then after like 15 minutes of doing that every 5 minutes i put them in
just dump the ray in... how cycled is this 55 gallon... lack of research on your part i see a dead ray in no time... sorry im just the blunt Ahole on here...
best to invert the bag he is in, drain the shipping water into a bucket but keep the ray in the bag, then slide the ray out of the bad into the tank. If you have any decorations in the tank, tank them out. that ray will out grow the 55 in about 2-3 months if fed right. good luck.
