Hey all. I just picked up this pair of motas yesterday. The male is about 8" and the female 6". The previous owner said they were F0 from Jeff Rapps but I don't know how to tell. They're not available in any stores around here so they're hard to get a hold of. I'm pretty sure the male isn't a red tiger but the female has a bit of red on her. Do you think she might be one?

Chris.

Beauties...

I'm not sure about "red tigers". If F0 Motas is what they are, then that is what you've got. You can give them whatever goofy pet name you want, that means nothing really... If you want to sell fish to someone who appreciates what they've got, you call them F0 motas, if you want to sell them to Joe newbie with a 55 gallon tank and $50 to blow, call them red tigers. They'll come crawling out of the woodwork :D

They are gold Motas. I agree the female does have some red on her cheeck. But they look nothing like my pair. The male is the big difference between mine and yours. But, they are a very nice looking pair though. I would be happy if I was in your shoes with them.

Man those r really some gorgeous fish..how much did u pay for the pair...did they eat right away.....anything else in the tank..cause if so then either seperate them or get ready for the pain

Those are both great looking fish and nice pictures. The F0 I believe is supposed to mean that they are wild caught fish. But all that matters is they look awesome, nice pickup:headbang2

Thanks for the replies.

These are a proven pair that I paid $40 Canadian to get. I was told they're wild caught, but it doesn't really matter to me. They're currently in a 75 gallon with a couple small female convicts to chase around, and a pleco and yo-yo loach. I have a divider with a hole for the female but it doesn't look like she needs it. The seem to get along fine together but are a bit shy. The have started eating pellets last night but only when I was far away from the tank. A few people on other boards think the female might be a freddi. Do you think there's a chance of that. If I sell some fry I'd like to be sure they're pure motas.

Chris.
