I have always loved motorcycles and so recently bought a used starter bike I plan to do a lot of short distance travel on around Brooklyn. Honda CM400C. I test drove it over the weekend and rides great for what it is ($800). Bringing it home tomorrow with a UHaul bike trailer. Super excited.

My father took this to another level

He started with a 76' kz900

Not his bike but a Google pic of one

He got it in the mid 80's and rode it a while as is till he acquired part's. Then one day the mad scientist went to work 20190723_131947.jpg

Always upgrading and acquiring more parts.
The engine started as a 76' 900cc
Final build it was a 1438 with 1200 police interceptor top end making 205hp at the back wheel

*Edit* Yes he did bring it into the living room every night....

Wow, those are some serious upgrades! I would eventually like to get a Moto Guzzi but that could change. Just need to get the hang of riding first. I’ve driven nearly every other kind of vehicle and feel it’s time for two wheels!

Successfully Uhauled my bike across state lines yesterday and had a nice ride around the neighborhood this evening. The trailer was only $15 to rent for 12 hours. Had a wheel chock for the bike and everything. Well worth the coin.

Interesting detail about registration is you can register your vehicle in Virginia without living there. Had no idea. But this was an important workaround until I get my motorcycle license.Temporary plates til September. Allows me to get-the bike insured ($5/month).

I added a few minor upgrades to the bike. Saddlebags and a helmet case for the rack with a backrest for passengers (primarily my wife). Has been loads of fun riding this old bike. I will be ready for an upgrade to a bigger bike in the fall but loving the experience. Any tall people have a preferred bike? I am 6’3” so many bikes feel too short.

Congrats! My first bike was a Honda 400 as well; went with the "sport" version rather than the "custom" you have. While I like the looks, the higher, pull-back bars and general seating position of the C make a small bike feel even smaller.

And make no mistake; you will feel cramped and underpowered in probably no more than a few weeks. I'm an inch shorter than you, and I always felt like a Great Dane trying to mount a Dachshund when I got on that bike. :)

I think you will find a more "standard" riding position more comfortable, especially for longer rides.

Now, repeat after me: My bike has taken its last ride on a trailer. From now on, anywhere I take it...I will ride it there! :)
