I set up a 2.5 gallon nanotope at work today. It's an All-Glass tank with a Red Sea HOB nanofilter. I am using Ecocomplete Plant Substrate, as it will be planted. I have a small piece of driftwood, but it is empty so far. I would like stocking suggestions. I am not averse to putting in fish that will outgrow the tank, as I can always take them home and restock. Also, plant suggestions would be helpful. I am using a 20w light bar.

Cory cat, and a betta:naughty:

go for a shirmp community. seriously, it will be awesome. get cherry and amano shrimp, about 4-5 cherrys and 2-3 amanos, fill it up with java moss or hornwort or some other plant like that, and turn 'em loose. it will look spectacular and be very low maintainence.

I wouldn't put any type of fish in there. it is simply too small.

No shrimps. I was thinking some Dwarf loaches and some pygmy cories.

why? planted nanos with shrimps are awesome.

no... that would be OS. dwarf chain loaches get to 3" each and that would not provide enough swimming room, and there is not enough room for a proper school of dwarf cories in a 2.5G. you'd be best off trying a M/F pair of sparkiling gouramis, BB gobies, or scarlet badis; or a single betta.

I was going to say scarlet badis. The biggest one I ever seen was only 1". And they have great color. Then you could put in some shrimp with them also.

I just picked up a few small tanks and I'm thinkin plakat bettas. But that is only one fish per tank, kinda boring. But if you plant it nice it doesn't even need fish.

How about a gorilla? Can I keep a sea gorilla? I will look for Scarlet Badis.

Ah comon... bettas?

Don't be like that fish-in-vase scam.

Every fish need at least a 10 or 12 gallon at the very least.

Actually, fish should not be kept in glass boxes. Every fish needs at least a lake if not an ocean to be happy.
