I couldnt help myself. Got an idea to set up my old 20 gallon for natives from my local river this weekend, but things escalated quickly. Now I have a new 40 breeder stocked full of fish from the South Edisto River... might have to adjust the stock because i think i went a bit overboard xD. Currently: 10 lined topminnows, 15 shiners (havent fully identified them), 1 tadpole madtom, 3 bluespotted sunfish and one tiny unknown darter. Water is a bit cloudy still.

I like Native fish also have a Greenside Darter. Keep us updated.

I thought about plants, even collected some. For now i will go without. Ive had bad luck with plants without a CO2 system. For now I will just be adding leaves and twigs slowly to hopefully stain the water to match the river.

Still waiting for the sediment to settle, parameters look good, 0, 0, 10, Ph 6.4. Added some crumbled oak leaves to a media bag in the filter to try and stain the water. Sunfish finally came out of their holes for some bloodworms.

Update: Sunfish are comfortable and all over the tank. Shiners got too comfortable and stopped schooling. Added a 3.5" redfin pickerel i caught microfishing to keep em on their toes . Working on staining my water to match the river. Pics soon!
