I did a water change the other day and my fx 5 has ran loud with no matter what I did to it (worked on it for over 4 hours). It has great flow and it is taking in the water but it is louder. Any ideas thoughts? Anything I should look at? has anybody else experienced this? I need all suggestions!! Please:nilly:

Is it from the filter, kind of like when filter catches air? I think it happens with mine everytime I change water, however the auto turn off-on feature of FX5 takes care of it by itself usually in a day.

thanks - but i it has been doing a couple of days - i actually think it is the little tube - i hope anyway

This is a constant noise from the filter. I buzzing/humming noise. It does not sound like it is liking running extra hard or grinding anything.

what is the filter sitting on?

I have checked the impeller and it looks good. It is sitting under the fish tank with the stand. To be honest - it is doing what it needs to be doing. Like it is taking in water and pushing it out strongly. It is more of like a hum. It is not grinding or crunching or clanking. I did change the little tube on the cover and it helped. Now I am just wondering how much noise I should hear. You know how you get to the point where you say - maybe this what it has been doing all along. Thanks for the help and will take anymore ideas or suggestions too. Like maybe how much noise should I hear??

if u put the filter on a rubber pad or something soft that will reduce that vibrating humming sound. also if u enclosed the filter in something soft and insulated that will eliminate almost all sound.
