This guys been at the LFS for months, Mum finally broke down and bought him for me LOL, anyway I was wondering if his colour will disappear? The LFS was feeding him beefheart, would that act as a colour enhancer?

Oh and he has black eyes and black on his fins, so he's a lutino?

nice fish, he'll stay the same colors but his patterns will most likely change

Ya there have been a couple people post there oscars that look like that and then as they grow all the coloring becomes solid like a red oscar.

Feed krill, blood worms, beef heart, and omega one cichlid for best color. Mix in Hikari Biogold for variety/nutrition.

Pretty cool Looking O! I am tempted more and more to get an Oscar everyday, but the only place for it to go would be the Dovii tank, wich wouldnt work out. :(

Sorry for bringing up an oldish thread, but I just had to share. I've had this guy for 16 days now, and he's gone from this

Not sure if it's just me, but he seems to have filled out a lot, and he looks so much more vibrant, and he's already growing

Nice oscar!!!.....why are they called lutino oscars?

Nice oscar. As it gets larger the black on the fins usually becomes more pronounced, and it will lose the classic juvenile oscar coloration.

They're called lutino because they're not albino (lacking all pigment). As you can see, they just have very reduced dark pigment, but they still have some (the darker fins).
