Will get pics once they've settled down a bit.

Just received a group of Picnic Sunbreams (Acanthopagrus berda) from Wes. They're also called black porgies and these fish are from South Africa.
Now, you wouldn't think of a porgie as being an oddball fish. What sets them in the oddball category is that they're protandrous hermaphrodites. That means that all A. berda start out as males and, for the purposes of spawning, selected males will change gender to female. Once spawning is complete, they'll revert back to being males.
These fish reach adulthood at about 13" and most of the tackle caught fish are that size. However, there have been much larger adults, caught in deeper waters, up to about 3 feet in length.

thats insane!!!!:WHOA: :D ........awesone but hard to fathom!!:)

That's pretty cool, I did not know that about them. I know that groupers (Serranidae) are protogynous hermaphrodites, meaning they change from female to males. Can't wait to see pictures of your new fish.

Can't wai to see what these guys...uh...gals...ummm...yeah. Can't wait to see what they look like!

They're pretty battered from the import and shipping. But, they were aggressively feeding on krill and bloodworms so, I figured they would be OK for a couple of flash pics. Here ya' go:
