Me and my friend are going to start a fish tank project, and we've got a couple of questions, so I thought this forum may be the best place to post my question. We want an enormous, hexagonal, saltwater tank complete with leopard sharks, hound sharks, epaulettes, rays, and various colorful reef fish. We want it to be about 6-8 feet in diameter and about 10 feet high. we were wondering what the gallonage and maintenance of this tank would be. We were also wondering what type of reef fish would be okay with the sharks and rays.

We are also interested in seahorses, puffers, and eels, if those would work with the type of fish described.

Thank you,
Silas

If you go to this forums main page... there is a section for salt water about half way down the page...

As your considering a salt water set up I think you might getter answers there...

I hope you and your friend have deeeeeep pockets ;-)

You're going to need all your pockets plus a bank vault for this project.

holy carp! I thought he was going to say they wanted to start maybe a 20G with a few oscars in it or something . . . this is bold (and pricey!)

Hrm.. to be most helpfull.. the list of animals listed in your wants.. not to mention the goal.. research.. lots and looots of research. and if you have a local Aquarium.. Talk to their staff. MOst of what you listed can't cohabitate, and some even that size of a tank would outgrow. an 8' diameter 10ft tall tank.. may sound big. but I doubt that would be large enough to house many SW rays, and depending on the sharks. the compatability may not be there. not to mention the challenge of building a tank thats taller then it is wide and hexegonal at that. Your talking some seriouse reinforcement. and your talking more liekly then not some seriouse maitenece on such a tank. keeping it's inhabitants feed properly alone would likely be a challenge. .. yep mind boggleing detail and many bases to cover.
