Hi cichla fans....First post on the cichla forum since becoming a member. There are some stuning bass here... and hope mine flourish.
A member here kindly sorted me out with these 2 lovely orinos.
There about 11&12 inch. Ive heard that they can steal all the food before the rays get a chance to eat... but hopefully this wont be an issue with just 2.

Can anyone help me ID male or female?
Will a hikari pellet only diet be sufficient to bring out the best colours?
Given the right conditions how long before they hit 14 inch?

My temp is 29-30 c. Ph is about 8. 30% wc twice a week.
What else is good advice for this fish to flourish and grow healthy?
Does any bass keepers use fancy lights to enhance colours ? Not saying that it is necessary as the colours are great anyway.. but like arro tanning... just curious..
Some pics below.

I have no idea what you're talking about. But Thanks for feedback.
I thought head hump was the only way to confirm.

Can u explain in more detail?

It's called venting, you can look up one of the many threads on it in the search engine up at the top. Head hump is accurate but not as accurate as venting.

Thanks guys.. just done a search and can clearly see that this question is asked ALOT.
Must be annoying for more experienced bass keepers... to keep hearing same question when search function can answer.
I'm not gonna net them out to check though... least not for a while.. ... maybe I can just look from a low angle.
Least I now know there is a definitive way to be 100% sure... unlike datnoids.

Looking really nice ade, iv just added exact same to my ray setup. Got to say the bass are mega on the pellets, feeding double pretty much now so rays get there feed. How have u found the bass with the tigers ?

Only been a few days... but bass seem to get on fine with the rays and tiger fish.
The bass tend to display with each other...
They are cool fish..

I got a pvc pipe just incase rhey get to greedy
.. but shiukdnt think I need it.
The 3 rays are 12 inch diameter which can cover alot of tank floor area... once they are over the pellets..the other fish dont get a chance...

Appreciate all the feed back.
I must admit... they are reallycool fish... that applies to all the different bass.
