i had some store credit at the lfs and they had a 5" onate bichir so i only ended up payin 19$ for him!:headbang2 hes in a 125 with lots of hiding spaces and oscar,bp,sd's, clown loaches, and a gibby pleco. temp is 76. whats a good diet for my new friend? i currently feed cichlid gold pellets, algea wafers, and sinking wafers. i do have some frozen sea bass that i feed sometimes, but am hoping to feed this more often if the bichir will tollerate it. any tips, info as this is my first polypterus!

first off, NICE PICKUP!!!!!!! and secondly, get that pleco out of there. algea eaters eventually aquire a taste for slime coat and it will suck the slime coat off the bichir and KILL IT!!!! feed it anything meaty, but if it will eat pellets thats evan better. feed him pellets all the time and give him meaty foods every once in a while.

my pleco is a gentle giant, already 15" and even leaves my 5" dojo alone but hated my ck for some reason, almost killed it so i got rid of the ck as the plec was my first "monster". the bichir and the plec seem cool but ill watch em.

i feed my ornates and other bichirs MP, silversides/anchovies, krill, mussels and live feeders. they grow fast with that kinda diet.
