i just bought this 7" ornate 3 days ago. after the first day home, i noticed there is some type of redness area on its belly. the redness area is also swelling a little bit as you can see it in the last picture (sorry for the blurr pic).

the tank is bare bottom with no decor so it doesn't seem to bump into anything. it hasn't eaten anything yet since i got it. the redness has been the same for the past 2 days. it seem to breath a little bit heavy and sometimes would swim erratic up and down then rest on the bottom.

its probably some kind of internal infection i think. but what do you bichir experts think and what should i do? thanks.

i said this on my previous post in another similar thread, i don't know what that is nut my 2 albino sens had them and both died slowly.

thanks guys for the responses :)

yesterday i did a 40% water change and added Morton Salt (the kind that use to eat that does not supply iodide, since i don't have API aquarium salt on hand). normally i do 30% wc twice a week, but now i am planning on doing 50% wc every other day with salt until the ornate gets better i guess unless something else comes up.

here's an update on how my ornate is doing so far. i have been doing 50% wc with salt added every other day since last wednesday. it hasn't eaten anything yet since i got it last sunday (a week ago).

the redness on the belly seems to get better but the lump is still the same. i am starting to get worry since it isn't getting any better and the ornate seems to be floating at the water surface more often now than before. the tank is slate tiles bottom and there is no decor or anything that small that it could have swallow.

i don't know what is causing the lump :( here are the pics to show the lump on the belly. i really don't want to lose it. let me know what you guys think what it is and what should i do, thanks.
