So yesterday I got a baby Oscar for my 55 gallon tank. He is just sitting on the bottom and not swimming around. I know Oscars commonly will do this. If he continues to sit on the bottom and not eat for a few more days, should I be concerned? I also do know I should give a fish time in a new tank.

Oscars do commonly do this. Eventually when he feels ready, he will start to be more outgoing. Make sure that the tank is not in a high traffic area of your home though.

As long as the water is clean wouldn’t worry as oscars do this.

Yea, I wouldn’t worry too much about him being gloomy. My oscars (also babies) would always be pretty happy and swimming about the tank, and then sitting on the gravel in the back of the tank within a matter of minutes.

If you did a water change, or even did a small rearranging in the tank, they become gloomy. I still love these fish
