Greetings everyone!! I have questions about what type of gravel to use in my soon to be acquired larger tank for my 3 juvenile oscars (1 albino, 2 tiger). The tank is going to be in the 100 gallon range. I have been told sand is a good substrate, but I am wondering if cleaning would be difficult with sand. I have gone to the local Home Depot and have found a limited but cheap selection of stone: marble, both chips and larger pieces, slate chips, river pebbles (egg size), pea pebbles (pea size, duh), black and red lava chunks. Even though I hate HD, the are way cheaper than the lfs. Right now I have small gravel in my tank and I find it's difficult to see and clean poop due to the same size and color. Thanks, Tom

I have the home depot river gravel in some of my tanks loks pretty nice. Not sure if marble will affect ph.sand is easy to clean poop just sits on top
