I just got an oscar from petsmart two days ago. It seems like each time I get any Oscar's from them they get white spots and die within a week. I went to a new petsmart this time and the fish looked healthy so I figured I would try again. The fish now has white spots. On my first two oscars I did an ich treatment and it failed and they died anyways. I do not want this one to die as well just from a misdiagnosis. Let me know if you have ideas or suggestions. The tank is cycled and has been healthy for months. All the fish in the tank are new and just bought from the same petsmart with no signs of white spots. The tank just had a different oscar in it that is perfectly healthy and was transferred to a different tank. So I know it wasnt a preexisting condition in the tank.

Welcome aboard
What other fish do you have in the aquarium other than the Oscar. It's also possible for some Ich to still exists if the aquarium wasn't treated long enough.

The tank never had ich before. The Oscar's that died were over a year ago. And that tank has a whole different set up atm. (I have 9 tanks) this tank also has convict chiclids and jack demseys. All are tiny atm. They are all babies. I'm just quarantining them before I put them in one of my large tanks.

I apologize just reread your post about moving another healthy Oscar out of the same aquarium. The Oscar in the pic may have not been healthy as well. Also would test water parameters.

Add a tea spoon per 5 gallon of salt and increase the heat when you do water changes vacuum the bottom of aquarium to remove Ich cyst.

Should be 1 tsp per g x3. About 6-8 hours apart. With every amount of water removed add the salt back. Heat to 86. Keep like this about 7 days after the last spot has disappeared.

My tank readings. I upped the temp to 80. I wasnt sure if I should do it higher since the highest Oscar's are supposed to be are at 80. And I dont wanna put it too high too fast. I added salt as well.

The spots have disappeared off the fish so I did a water change and vacuumed the gravel. I also did end up putting the temp up to 86. So far the oscar is still alive so I'm very hopeful.
