New Oscar!!!

Hi all I'm new here....I just bought 4 new oscars today (all tigers). They are about 1.5" now. I don't plan on keeping all of them at this point, I just want a mating pair. How long before I can expect them to start to pair up?

Right now I have a 75 gallon tank they are in. Next month I'm getting a 240 to put them in.

I had a group that started to pair off at around 8-9" but I am not positive when they reach sexual maturity.

heh...you are going to want a bigger tank for if you do find a mating pair. Oscars usually breed in bigger tank.

plus 75 is WAY to small for 4 Oscars

I have 3 oscars in a 100g and they are fine, but I don't think they are going to breed. I also have many other fish in the tank, Just look at signature.

He said he is only keeping a pair and is getting a 240g.


Oscar's mature at about a year old. With that said, I don't know when they will pair up. By that time they should be in the 6-9" range.

I have bred Oscars (unsuccessfully) in a 75 gallon tank.. but they never raised any of the eggs... but right now, the 75 gallon is occupied by the male, his mate died..
