new overflow

I plan on upgrading to a 150g talk for my Oscars .

it's on sale for $650 right now .do anybody have any experience with this tank?

anyways I plan on drilling the tank and running my first sump. as I do research on overflow I found these

does anybody have any experience with this. or an even better recommendation on an overflow set up?
trying to stay on an affordable size of things. and will be using a 30g submerged media sump.. thanks

I am new to sumps (i have made 4 and am working in #5).

I would try and get a reef ready tank. Drilling is easy but the RR are a dream. I think you can get a tank made to your specs for about that price for that size from many of the "custom" aquarium places. Just check and aee. Cant hurt).

As for the over flows you linked to.....IF you dont go RR or "custom/semi custom" (meaning they drill and set up the overflow system to your specs) , for the cost of those, i would look into some kind of an inside the tank overflow box with a weir. I think they may perform a bit better nouse wise, be better at controlling your water height etc etc and be in the same price range once you figure on the price for a pair.

so this is the part that get me confused. why/are over flow box's needed if I buy the weir I linked?

I was also looking an internal writ overflow Box i can silicon in but I think that would be noisier right ?

I talked to a mom and pop fish store. an "aquarium masters" 150g tall is $400 plus $350ish for an mdf stand or $450ish for a pine stand. that tank isn't not reef ready either so I don't know how much extra that will cost.
petsmart is $650 with a pine stand . money wise kind of a no brainer .

to tell you the truth I'm a bit over whelmed by all the different options available lol

There are a few people here that run those h2o overflows. If I where going to do it see if you can order the tank in drilled where you want it. Might cost a little more but worth it to not have to do it yourself. Bean animal is the way I would go win an internal and external box
