I got 3 today from the LFS really nice looking just got them in today. At the shop they were very active swimming around etc. I got them home took a few hours of floating and got them in the tank.

They swam around a bit having fun but now 2 are just hanging near the top of the back of the tank and one is just hiding underneath the driftwood. Did a check of the water no signs of any problems. Is the 02 level too low?

Just dont want to throw away money if there is something I can try or just let them get used to new surroundings.

Thanks in advance

high temp (80-86) and lots of air. they will get better soon. mine were shy when 2 inches, luckly they only stay small for a bit. they are like 4-5 inches and its maybe been 5 weeks

All 3 are hanging in the left back corner of the tank I have the lights off (used my phone to look in). Only thing in the tank besides them is a pleco.....

OK i guess I'll worry all night. :(:(:(

Get em some dither fish...something big enough that they cant eat that will make em fell more comfortable.

At small size keep your temp at 87 and well oxygenated. Try feeding em frozen blood worms and brine shrimp to start.

Thanks! Have a 8 inch pleco they were hanging with. I came in this morning and they were all over the tank till i turned the light on. So they ARE just being shy.

Its a 110 tall for growout to a 250 or a 300 havent decided yet.

Went to the LFS and added a round airstone and a bendable bubble wall. So I wont have o2 probems in my mind any more.

J. Rapps small Orinocensis ‘Rio Cusiana’ came in today. They are very hardy already eating "rosy reds" as soon as they hit the water.

As for the other 4 I bought yesterday from Ken Davis. He has a good idea what species they are (think the wholesaler) had them marked wrong they are doing much better after the Orinoco showed up. East bloodworms and rosys.

Thanks again Pics to come soon after they settle down.

Wow...you got the orino's from Rapps. Keep us updated with the growth and color of the "Rio Cusiana's".

Everything sounds good. All eating, swimming around getting alone great. Just keep the pictures coming.

Get a pump and airstone.
No experience on these fish, so temp I can't speak for. I do know that my cichlids in the past have always done better at 82ish versus the 78 or so recommended.
Just increase heat slowly.
