Just got a female for my ZZ. Hopefully they're both viable parents.

This is what she looked like straight out of the bag from Thailand.

Kind of a blurry pic of them swimming around together.

I had them divided for a day after her trip from Thailand and they were already trying to tail slap each other through my divider. Tubes dropping was my final confirmation to take out the divider. Here's a vid also.

She seems to be more ready than him, she keeps trying to coax him into the pot but he just keeps doing figure 8's begging me for more food. I guess I'll just keep my eye on them.

Eggs!

I feel like my male might be ***...he's never really shown any interest or aggression towards her. She didn't lay very many eggs, and they're all kind of scattered. I feel like she may have laid some, then stopped because he wasn't fertilizing them. There's definitely some white eggs, but I'm hoping that the remaining ones won't turn. I guess only time will tell.

So I woke up today and found some signs of lipolocking from last night and some split fins. When I was watching them the night before, I noticed the female (much smaller) being VERY aggressive to my male. I still feel as if she's trying to get him to show more interest and to fertilize her eggs. Maybe she got a little too rough last night and he fought back. Anyway, the divider is back up, I guess it's time to go back to the drawing board, and for a little more patience.

I took this male out and paired him with a different female. She laid eggs immediately and he fertilized them. I guess it just wasn't the right pair at the right time. I had wigglers, now I have fry...I actually have this pair back together right now, I think they're trying to figure each other out a little still.
