Just got a pair of Jaguars 3 days ago.Male is 7 inches, female 6 inches. The first day I got them they were swimming all over the place. Now they hide all the time. They are in a 90 gallon by themselves.I use very subdued lighting(2 strip lights made for 5 gallon tanks).Should I use some floating plants too,or just give them more time to get used to tank.

Assuming parameters are in check, give them time, they will come around, my big male took about 3 weeks to fully be himself , I kept the tank light off most of the time.

My pair have been in their current space for about three weeks and they still seem a little shy. Let them get used to their new surroundings and let them set up a territory. As long as they look healthy and are eating well there shouldn't be any reason for concern.

My male was very shy to start with and would not eat for about week.

The female ate almost straight away, but shje is a bit of a pig when it comes to food.

Don't worry about it. It took over a week to get my 10" male to eat anything and several weeks for it to start eating good. Also, it took over a month to quit being shy but, eventually he did come out of his shell and is now the most dominant, outgoing, and fierce fish I own. He is the only fish I have that is not afraid of my hand if I have to work inside his tank.

Water parameters are good. PH is 7.0, no ammonia,no nitrites, 15 ppm nitrates. I change half of tank water 2 times a week. Think I'll get some artificial plants to float on the water. I like that look. Ok I will give them time to adjust to their new surroundings too. Thanks.

Jags are still hiding. Not eating. Should I remove decoration(just a large piece of driftwood)or leave it in for them to hide? Its been 5 days.
