New Payara Species

This is a species (Hydrolycus wallacei) of Payara that was described in 1999. I have never heard it mentioned on these forums as a species kept in the hobby. Here's a link that has some further information and pictures about this and the other species of Payara.

Yeah,it's been mentioned here a few times before but I don't recall hearing about anyone ever having any though.
 
It looks as though this species is most similar to Hydrolycus scomberoides in size and appearance.
 
ah I came here thinking there was a newly discovered species lol well, I don't recall anyone keeping any before. I've only seen pictures of them dead, including this one. snubby looking indeed, compared to the other ones. I'm curious about their personalities

Its cool, but I'm not a fan of the smaller canines on the lower jaw...they look so much cooler with the bigger canines ;)

There has to be a reason we don't hear many people owning these if any...they must be much harder to find then the other payara species

They know where to find this species. Which makes it more surprising that we have not seen any in captivity.

I agree Payara with big teeth are the best!!
