so ive had 2 baby pbass for about a week now. They are about 1-2". I just had a couple questions. They seem very shy I was thinking maybe it was because they are a week new to the tank? maybe just because they are babies? They always hide. They like being behind the filter. They are usually always together though sometimes they hang out with my bgk. The past couple days though they have just been like sitting at the bottom of the tank. Is that bad? I thought maybe it wa sbecause they just ate maybe? NOt sure any advice though is great. thanks

well small bass are very suseptible to ich and disease so make sure there not ill, generally smaller cichla are shy if they are singled out.. hiding behind the filter in my experience is like a 1-2day thing try to bring them out of shyness by adding more fish at small sizes cheap community fish will do being said if they get eaten it wont matter. removing hiding locations may stress the cichla try adding some places for your little guy to take refeuge in. and try to raise the temp to 86 and watch your parameters and you should be fine. hope all goes well with your new guys =]

Make sure there isn't anything significan'y larger in the same tank. They will hide away as a natural instinct, even if the other fish isn't a pred.

i just have the 2 small pbass, and 1 bgk in a 125g thats it for now. Today they are hiding in the plants and stuff. Yes i see them eat, but all they want to eat is guppies i cant get them to eat anything else i tried the pellets, and blood worms. but they seem to just want guppies ha. They generally stay together, wherever they go in the tank. They dont ook sick or anything they just seem very timid, and skidish. I guess maybe they will grow out of it? I was just scared because last night one of them was sitting on the bottom not moving but hes swimming around fine now. The bgk swims around all night, hes fine. so.

My pbass sits at the bottom of the tank whens hes frightened. And I've had him for almost a year now. It can be normal behavior.

Mine sit at the bottom of the tank after lights out, very early morning. Maybe yours are trying to sleep. :)

haha maybe but they seemed to like him they swim with him sometimes, and hang in his cave with him haha weird...

there still young, my six inch bass use to swim and hide, and there only non-enemie was a Pleco.
