My petstore had this very shy 3inch pbass 3 days ago. Although I never saw him eat in the store, I bought him home anyways. He's been in my 29 gallon for 2 days now. My other cichlids will pick on each other, but they are too small to bother him. Anyways, I threw in tropical flakes, black worms, bloodworms, black worms, pellets, and beefhearts. He did not touch anything! First day, he was hiding in the corner. Next day, he will position himself in various corners of the tank. If I go near the tank, he will go in his hiding spot, even when I dump food in the tank, even when he sees my other cichlid enjoying their food. The temp is 80f, and my water is always crystal clear. Well now he's not scare as much, but he still won't eat.... At least I know he can still swim, and swim really fast sometimes.

try krill...that seems to be our Pbass's favorite food. We had several baby pbass act like this but all of them eventually broke down and ate. although at first they only grabbed pieces of food off of the bottom when we left the room.

Just give him time to relax to his new enviroment. All my pbass have been like that initially but now they are good and eat like pigs!

Get him some guppies to chase around.

Agreed :) I believe in Live food while Juviniles:) They are Piscavore regardless of what ANYONE says or does :)

My baby p-bass is a very picky eater. Live fish his favorite, followed by earth worms, and my hand when I clean the tank. I guess I taste like fish. Don't know what I'm gonna do when he gets bigger.

I had the exact thing happen with my two 4 inch guys. I tried all kind of food and they wouldn't even look at it but i dropped in a few guppies and there was a feeding frenzy. GO LIVE !!

It's been almost 5 days now. Unfortunately he still won't eat, and my local fish store ran out of feeder comets. I'm gonna get some tommorow when they stock. I've just divided the tank so he can have all the feeders to himself tomorrow when I put them in. I threw my betta in there with him to see what happens. He doesn't seem to be interested in the betta either...

Let us know how it goes. I would drop one in and wait..... If he eats... Drop another.
