I bought 2 peacock bass occelaris the other day so I waited to feed them so they would be used to the tank an everything so today this afternoon I put some blood worms in an well nothing happems in fact they might still be laying there(the worms that is). how long should it take for them to adjust an start eating well.... I was hoping onyl a day or 2....

Oh whats a good temp for the occelaris I have read about it an people suggest alot of different temps.

how big are they? depending on size, i'd say anywhere from 82-84* is good for ocells. I know some guys keep them in even cooler water.

Who did you get them from and what were they eating before? you might have to resort to feeding them live if thats all they know to eat.

How long have you had them? they might just be stressed and will eat as soon as they settle in.

86 is where i keep my temp. But add some smaller or equal sized fish to show them what to eat.

i keep mine all at around 82 - 84 degrees might just have to go to live ill bet if u bought them at a lfs they were feeding them guppys or rosy reds

agreed.

Well first thing I prolly stressed them out kuz I was stupid an forgetful Im just glad they didnt go into shock an die.

I moved my heater from the center of the tank an put it more towards the corner an forgot to plug it back in! The water temp was only 72 or so whatever my house temp was, mistake #1.

An I did ask the lfs what they were feeding an they said blood worms, shrimp an guppies so I dont know.... an they are babies what kind of fish should I put in there to show them how to eat this is my only tank an these are the only fish I own currently.

Temp is up to 82 an climbing, man is that water warm......

when i pick up new cichla it usually takes a day or two for them to get acclimated with their surroundings after that, its war with the other pbass. good luck!
