Yep, I've been throwing the idea around for months now of setting up a biotope for some but I haven't quite got the funds together yet. I've never seen them with such vivd colors before; spectacular.
 
I started in the hobby last june and since then many have told me to try salt water. Compared to my lfs fish, salt water fish were so awesome looking in comparison and I was tempted to switch. Well now having learned what's out there for fresh water, I'm glad I didn't switch, fresh is where its at for me.

you can go through a similar revelation by exploring native species. while I'll probably always have a tropical tank to keep corydas, I don't see my native tank getting any smaller...

Excellent thought. I am very interested in doing a native tank. I'm in Virginia so there are plenty of interesting species. Imagine keeping a muskie!
