u.s.
do you like the new line of penguin filters? what features did they add to the new filters? my old penguins are still running after a few years, and i don't see the need to get the new ones.

I have several penguin filters, the oldest being a 330B, newest being the new 350, and the 100B. the 330 is kinda nicer than the 350, cause you can adjust the flow rate, and the extra media baskets can hold ALOT more extra media than the extra media baskets on the 350, which doesn't have adjustable flow either...
but I do like them all, once they are broken in anywise. first several weeks they are kinda loud...mostly splashing and stuff..

I have 3 different versions of the Penguin 330/350 series in 3 different 55g tanks.

The oldest has a bio cartridge on each side and no bio wheel. not much air contact not very efficient.

the next one has a bio wheel & media basket.. nice advancement quiet & works well...

The latest one has a few more niceties. an adjustable flow upper level intake, room for media baskets (not included) bio wheel & get this ... 2, yes Two slots on each side for your filter cartridges.

The double cartridges on each side allow me to change 1/2 the media on each side at a time, thus preserving bio...

Take the back one out, put the front to the back & the new one up front. Bio transfer to the new one is super fast..

I think this new design is the best of the three. it also has a separate front cover plate from the main cover, this allows easier changes, and it is lower in the tank so it is MEGA quiet, I might get another for my bedroom tank. The current one is in the office. Even on speakerphone no one can tell that this thing is running.

I just got a new Penguin 350 for my 55 gal. I LOVE IT!!! Its very quiet, very simple, and very efficient. I like the idea of 2 filter media slots plus room for additional filter media. If you need a new filter, I suggest them...

I have the penguin, I never liked them, I think they filled up to quickly with junk and then stopped working. I then changed to the emperior 400, a much better filter, and far better than any penguin out there. Penguin dreams it could be an emperior....

after having both, and since both are made by same company, I will always save a little bit of money for the "same" product cept filters are different...and the penguin both filters and machinery are cheaper.... only a 5gal capacity company suggested difference...so for the money, forget the empororer..
but then again.. its an opinion and everyone has one, so find out for yourself
