State of chaos
found a medium-sized freshwater mussel in a lake today :D
ive done research online before about bivalves but im not totally locked in on care. any tips?
BTW hes a cool mussel:headbang2

its not a zebra. the lake is man made and youre not allowed to have a boat on it, so theres no ballast. plus the shell is almost solid brown.

How's it doing?

Whats a zebra??

i found a bunch in a stream once i was gunna keep em but someone told me they were endangered or something good luck with yours

zebra mussel
invasive in the great lakes

its really getting out of hand
the larvae got into the great lakes in ballast.
there is also a related species called a quagga mussel that has similar but less extreme effects

They have bottle of liquid zoo and phytoplankton, you spray it in your tank and the bi-valves filter it out. I'm guessing that would be the best way to feed it. You may have a diffrent plan though.

good luck!
