new pick up pangasiide or mystus?

having trouble iding this one any thoughts? came in with a shipment of larger hypothalmus this one is about 5" very active like other pangasius has three horizontal grey stripes starting right at the gills and extending to the tail and two black spots right at the base of the dorsal don't know if this is evident in the pics

Not common but not super rare. I've seen them a handful of times on the past 5 years. Not expensive either.

No pangasiidae has the down-turned caudal. Is his as Schilbe's? Hard to be 100% sure from the pics.

IDK. Maybe he swam from his native Africa to SE Asia? Joking...

That's the only Pangasid I can think of - Pseudolais pleurotaenia http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=1444 But it does not look close to yours.

I'm trying to get a few better pictures but she won't stop moving but I agree with your original assesment very cool catfish regardless

Yeap. I've had a pair - nice fish, easy, eats all, visible, fun, with personality.

Overall, your pics are indicative enough IMHO, I just wanted to make sure about the tail being downward.

well an importer could have imported both and mistakingly put them in the same tank or maybe this guy was lingering and they just threw him in to get rid of him lol.
