Sorry bro not an escon. It's a nice green tex though. What's up with the black spots (sorry for lack of scientific terms) being so close together, almost looks like a flower line.

Comparing to my first carpintis, this one is so much prettier and greener, it was labeled as "Red texas cichlid", they said that they are called red texas does not mean that they are red, it will remain this color as it grows.
But I thought this is how an Escon looks.

As you probably know a "red texas" is a hybrid, and the good ones are quite expensive. They do turn red. Very red.

Whoever sold you the fish lied to you.....it really bothers me when people do that...

Yeah the red texas should turn red as it gets older. If you have the money get a super red texas. If you want an escondido just order from Rapps.

not in stock!
u sure it will turn red? because i am not sure what bred them, maybe its fake red texas. and it has flowerhorn spots.

but it has the nicest blue pearl scales that i have ever seen from a texas, it shines.
I call it "the Blue texas"!!

Call it whatever you want. Just don't try to breed it and pass off the offspring as any sort of pure species and I'll be happy.

If you want shiny blue...get an Escondido. ;)
