Hi guys, i have just picked up a king kong parrot from lfs, hope its female.
I picked this one because it has almost closed-mouth, white eye(not black), and it's color so red while others' are orangish-red.
Now i need help sexing, i need a female to breed red texas. Also it has a fat bubble thing next to its gill, is it normal?

as u can see, its cheek is kind of fat, like a huge bubble on each side.

its not a kkp, its a blood parrot.

Here are clearer pictures.

Aren't BPs are suppose to have ugly beaks, like this?

Also BP's fins look different, is it? KKP pure red fin while BP have pink spots on their tail/dorsal fins?

Looks like a KKP to me?

looks red parrot i thought KK could close there mouths?
x2!
kkp can close their mouths, color really doesnt have much to do with it, neither does finnage, its mostly just based on the mouth. it doesn't really matter much unless your planning on breeding, all that matters is that you like it! :)

as far as sexing is concerned, a vent shot would be a lot more helpful considering you cant 100% accurately sex parrots by their looks. but if i were o throw my opinion out there, i'd say female. females generally have a darker red colorationg and a chubbier belly, like yours appears to have. males generally look more washed out and have less of an arch on their forehead and an overrall sleeker look. like i said, ther is no fullproof way to visually sex them, this is just in my experience and my personal opinion.

In pet store most kkp cannot close their mouths. I just need a kkp for breeding purposes.
