Long story short, I seem to have a complete inability to keep community tanks, so after spitting my dummy out I sold all my stock off.
I decided to go back to a pair of amphilophus spp of some sort, my old barred midas where probably my favourite fish.
On the way to pick 10 f2 juvi citrinellus up I bumped into these crammed in a 2 ft tank at lfs I get food from,
Males 9 inch exactly, female just over 6 inch, been in the tank a week now and just spawned.
Need a bit of tlc but look to be a good compatible pair so far.

Gorgeous fish dan! very nice pick up. Did they know what they are exactly? Male looks like red isletas to me. Though I know it is futile to guess without pedigree

There f1 fish but the lfs couldn't remember the catch location, I am not bothered I am not selling any fry so will refer to them as just Amphilophus spp, I agree that he does look like a red isletas though.

Congrats on the find, lovely looking fish.

Male looks like a Doug or Fred if you name your fish haha
