I got them off craigslist from two nice newlyweds who couldnt put in the time to care for them as they want to start a family. They are about 6in long and they came with a free 29gal with light, heat light, stand, and a little turtle landing and food. theyre names are mcgee(the dark one) and tony(the light one) after the characters on ncis. any sexing help is appreciated. and don't worry i put them in my 40breeder which led to this http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=241681. pic 1 is the 29, the rest are of them. i think most were after the move to the 40 but some may be in the 29 inm not really sure. sorry for typos if theyre are any, its hard to type with my finger issue:irked:.

you can determine the sex by the size of the tail.

big tail = male

small tail = female
well ive heard that but i have nothing to compare with size-wise

if the difference in tail size isn't immediately clear, then your turts are probably not a pair

from what I know, you can't mistake the bigger size of an adult male's tail. like ceeejay31 said, if there are no difference between the two, then they're probably of the same sex.

1st is mcgee 2nd is tony

damn! oh well i guess i wont have any babies. were building an outdoor enclosure for the summer this weekend it should be sick

That is a nice pair of young laidys you got there:D They are both defenetly female and apart from being a litle on the smallish side they seem completly fine. The change you made in the enclosure was good for them, however I dont think your pirana are very happy about it so here is a sugestion: one of the best things you can do for any slider is to build them a outdoor pond, no electric bills, all that is needed is provided by nature, all you have to do is feed them and keep the water clean, they would be super happy in thouse. Also its important to remenbar that sooner or later they will need a place to lay their eggs, a outdoor enclosure of corse its a great advantage.
Its actualy good they are of the same sex, you would have a very hard time finding good homes for any babys, this world does not need more home less sliders. BUT there is very good demand for morph sliders;) You could someday pickup a really nice albino, pastel, etc male and make a nice combo babys. Im actualy going to do a tread on thouse
