Nice! Is this an annual? I think killies are amazing looking but just can`t seem to bring myself to buy a fish that will croak in a year.

Sjoestedti are not annuals. I've had them live for 3 or 4years. You are thinking of the African genus Nothobranchius. Gularis eggs can withstand a dry period and still remain viable, but can also be water incubated. Nice pick up Duane!!

Thanks for the insight Jim, I didn't think they were annuals, but wasn't sure.
They are @ 3"-4", and I understand may possibly put on another 2"-3" so I hope they've got a few miles to go.
Put them in the girlfriends tank, with some Astatheros robertsoni, she"s surprised because my normal M.O., is "big brown, fish" better for eating, than viewing.

I had no idea they got that big. I would love to see them at that size. Seriouslyfish has them at a max of 4.8" but unfortunately also says soft acidic water. No RO unit=no can have.

So far so good in my water, which has a pH of 7.6-7.8, 250ppm total hardness, and total alkalinity of just under 100ppm.
I will collect some rain water this spring to dilute the mineral content a bit, and see if they will spawn.
